Re: Loan approval complete - Now, which plane?

I have two horses, a donkey, and a B. While a really nice 55/ 56 is the best of the bunch, the others are really nice airplanes.. I would buy a really nice 48 over a crappy B any day. That said I only looked at A's and B's because I knew I would be tying down outside sometimes. My B is toasty warm a...

Re: Take-off to clear obstacle. Whats your method?

Basically I use George's method. Experimenting with 2704C I found that 20 deg gets off the ground shorter than 10 deg and I get over obstacles faster. Popping flaps makes no sense to me at all. The induced drag at low speed for the flaps is negligible and I bet you can't measure the difference in ac...

Re: Ever Google your N#?

Nothing but the usual aircraft registration information comes up on mine but it hasn't been in the limelight much.

Nobody seemed to have a solid answer for the static problems....
I see no need for a failure prone vacuum pump either, at least not for my kind of flying.

Re: New to me..

I am going to try with just one venturi at 8" to start with. I was thinking of just mounting both 4" but the transition phase where you may slow down and lose adequate vacuum bothers me. I don't know that the mismatched venturis would be an even split. If I had the holes already in the pla...

Re: New to me..

George, I'm glad you joined in! I had read al the other threads actually. You are correct that you. A not mi. The two venturis in the same circuit. You could use them as two separate circuits if you really wanted to separate the instruments. Can one super Venturi run a modern DI and HSI? I wouldn't ...

Re: New to me..

Of note, my venturis were mounted on opposite sides of the aircraft and were never mounted together.

Re: New to me..

I can go to the nines. I have the regulator from the airborne but not the other parts. I did not see the installation instructions, only the 337.

Re: New to me..

I got rid of the parking brake during the annual :) The engine is a C145 H2. It had an airborne vacuum pump on it a very long time ago but that has been removed. When the pump was put on they pulled the venturi's. I have the venturi's. I need to strip and paint them. I will be reinstalling them this...

Re: New to me..

Some more pictures. Note that the DG and HSI are non functional. The T&B is a bit off and deflects a bit to the right. I haven't decided what to do about them yet. The panel photo was taken when I was flying it back for the pre buy inspection. I have already committed blasphemy and replaced the ...

Re: New to me..

Thank you. The paint is quite good and it has a new Airtex red and grey interior. It has the original panel in it but the DG and HSI are not currently functional as there is no vacuum system at the moment. I'll fix that soon. It flies straight and true and the engine is very smooth. 20" of mani...

New to me..

First of all, thank you to everyone for helping me. Second, this site is a great treasure trove of information! I took this last week off and and wednesday and thursday I spent the day in the shop at Twitchell's doing a pre buy which went fine. Yesterday I sealed the deal and she's mine! http://i101...
