Re: I'm Tall Are There Short Seat Frames Available
I sympathise, I am 6'3" with a long torso. I got the pilots side seat reupholstered with less foam when I bought the plane and just fit. Be aware the these seats are old, and lightly built. I have resisted pulling the headliner because it looks good, but that will give you a few inches. I have ...

Re: Johnson Creek Idaho
I went in there several times with the O-300. Not too heavy and respect the DA and you will find it quite comfortable. Depart to the North and its downhill all the way to the sea:)
It is a beautiful strip in great condition and well worth the visit.

Re: Del-Air modified cowling work pictures
I don’t have any pictures on hand but I will search. I took the doubler out of the inside of the air scoop, and then added a simple strap to the front lip as there were several cracks. The cowling was the toughest part of the whole install for me, I had a real hard time getting the two sides of the ...

Re: EGT setup
I had a single cht on my O-300 on the back right cylinder. I always assumed that was the hottest and thats why it was there. I have heard other opinions on the hottest cylinder, but am not knowledgeable enough to confirm.

Yes the second picture is what I have.
One was finger tight when I got in there and slipping. I did not torque them, but they have not slipped since.

Re: Tailwheel steering cable issue
I think it was meant to improve steering on the ground. I agree a solution to a problem that did not exist. I have contemplated taking it out, but since my initial problems it has not needed anything.

Re: Tailwheel steering cable issue
I had an issue when I first bought my plane about ten years ago with one tailwheel cable slipping on the rudder cable. Its attached with what I call a ground cable clamp (its used here in Canada to attach or splice ground cables in house construction). If it slips on the rudder cable the tailwheel c...

Re: Very informal study of 170 sales.
I can't imagine the current high prices will stick. I also don't want to think of the collapsed economy that will bring them down. But I think it more likely prices will come down than they stay at the current level. I have to agree, housing and toys seem crazy high right now. Lots of potential pai...

Re: The future of 170's
I beleive that there will be 170s around for a while. I think they are currently making the transition from "really practical plane for the money" to something more like "classic that is still a very useful airplane". I find it interesting how many of the "classic" thin...
