Re: Title Searches

I bought an aircraft from a good friend of mine. I knew the airplane because it has been in our EAA chapter for good many years and I knew that it was well maintained since I was involved in the last two annuals. So I did not felt a pre purchase inspection was nessary, or a title search. I kept the ...

I read that article in Avweb about the Rodway t/o crash. But your last statement makes a lot of sence. In a emergency landing and the aircraft gets minor damage that can be repaired. I agree with you, Throw it back into the insurance lap. let them make the judgement call. At least this will avoid an...

METAL SURFACE

Some of you 170 owner have a so much free time on your hands that you can keep your plane polished to a mirror finish. (These are the aircraft I use to comb my hair when I crawl out of my tent at Oshkosh) We keep ours clean but do not have the time to maintain that shine. Heck if I have time to poli...

I do thank you for all of your suggestion. I haven't decided which one but renting a rental car will be the deciding factor. All I have got to do now is hope for good flying weather. I am going to miss the airshow but we just had one here in the Memphis area at Millington, which brought the Blues &a...

One of Greg's son John, took over one of his hanger in West Memphis Ark. (AWM) He also got the only 170B that was left. But unfortunately he had an accident with it and the insurance totally it. He bought a late model 172 and flys it often. Gary

another corrosion warning

While doing the 100hr insp on the engine of our 170A. I noticed the bottom of the battery box had a little flaking. To my surprise after removing the battery there was a lot more damage on the inside that required a lot of repairing. The cause of the corrosion was due to the fact that the flared ven...

Break in oil is not really required today like it was 25-30 yr. ago. The oil today is of better quality. I have talked to Mobile along with Aeroshell at all the trade shows, both have said there is no reason what so ever to use mineral oil (or Dinosaur oil) during the break in procedure. But (there ...

Fuel Sender Float

Can anyone tell me where I can find a place to buy fuel sender FLOATS. The Rt wing is sticking and after pulling the sender out i noticed that the float looks about as old as the 1951 170A. It is real hard and brittle I did a search but to no avail.. Gary
