Re: 53 170B switch placard
I did my panel about six years ago, both top and bottom. There is a lady associated with the Cessna 120/140 association who did my plexiglas switch/controls, as I recall her name is Joy. As I recall the price was under $100. and she did a beautiful job. To accommodate the replacement you will need t...

Re: Corrosion in bulkhead stiffeners
Hi Kimball, I would agree scotch brite is a great corrosion cleaner especially the little roloc pads you can use on an small pnewmatic angle grinder. The roloc pads are about 1.5 inch diameter. I like the dupont vari-prime which in a spot like that you can just brush it on. My airplane also had a ca...

Re: 170 a spar doubler corrosion
I removed my tanks about 18 years ago to inspect for corrosion. All the screws on the front spar portion of the tank cover came out with no problems. The screws on the wing tip and aft end of the tank panel were the more difficult ones to get out. You can see these screws through the wing inspection...

Re: Poll: Carb Air Box Upgrade Possibility
Is there a problem with the currently available bronze bushings kit FG-105? I was hoping to put the kit on my box this winter.

I have owned my 170 for 22 years and for the first time removed my prop for overhaul a couple years ago. I had always inspected, cleaned and painted it but thought after 20 years it would be good to have it looked at by a prop shop. The overhaul as they now call it envolved stripping the paint, crac...

Control Cables
I've been replacing mine a few at a time. I would recommend changing the flaps and ailerons at the same time if you choose to do it that way. I changed my aileron cables a couple years ago and wish I had done the flaps at the same time because they run on the same ganged pulleys. Anyway I now have a...

exhaust tailpipes
Anyone have a cure for loose tailpipes? I was thinking of using the clamp with the stud, on both sides of the pipe (front and back)? It would require an additional hole in the tailpipe and pipe coming out of the muffler.

Romeo Tango, I have the ponk kit in hand ready to put on but I want the get all the alignment set up first. When I removed the gear legs I found no corrosion on the gear box casting, I was a little concerned about that having read other accounts. The only thing I did was replace about four loose riv...
