Re: 170 Movie

Thanks again for the comments. If you couldn't tell I REALLY love my 170! It is the perfect airplane for me.

Wish I had the time to make the conventions in far away locations so I could enjoy the adventure of flying the 170 cross - country, again. Maybe in another season of life.

Re: paint color that matches polished aluminum

Dan, Most of the people who would holler “cheater” have not spent hours bent over backwards like a banana, compounding the underside of their wings. I owned a swift before the 170 and I painted the belly and bottom of the wings just like you did. It was the best thing I ever did on that A/C. Of...

Re: paint color that matches polished aluminum

Sorry for the delay. It is Diamond Silver Metalic - Paint code L97A.ZA. It really does look good on a polished airplane even thou some call it "cheating."

Please post the paint code on the forum. It looks really good and I might use it on my project.
Thx,
Dan
Will do. Wasnt sure how fast it might be needed. In my opinion it is the best match for the silver. You stand back 20 feet and you cant tell it isnt bare metal.

Re: paint color that matches polished aluminum

Does anyone know of a standard paint color and brand that matches polished aluminum? I want to paint the ailerons and the wings are polished. Thanks, Steve Hi Steve, I recommend Diamond Silver. If you shoot me an email I can look up the paint code. Here are the results on an airplane... http://pica...

170 Photo Gallery

Just been reading thru this thread and had a few ideas. At one point I attempted to host a site (C170.com) with such a gallery but the software to run it was over my head so I let the site go. Now that I have learned a few things we might try again. I have plenty of space on my web site (dtlinn.com)...

Re: N3476D..... Are you out there?

I landed at Nut Tree for a pit stop today and was approached by someone who had owned a '56 170. After talking 170's for awhile he went back to his hanger and gave me an original owners manual in excellent condition with 3476D ser.# 27019 written inside the cover. If the owner is out there it is yo...
