Re: I had a bad day in Buffalo

Hi Tim, Thanks for the reply, no offence is taken. We will look at this aspect of the wheel tomorrow. I will let you know what we find. There were only very very faint skids makes on the runway, you had to look very closely to see if they even applied to my situation. As I mentioned , the tires ( ei...

Re: I had a bad day in Buffalo

Tim, That is a very interesting, point you brought up. Thank you. We will certainly look into that possibility, how ever I do know that for certain that the tire did not lockup and skid, as we have very closely inspected the tire for skid indications, and non are evident. George, Yes they are certai...

I had a bad day in Buffalo

Has any one ever seen anything like this before ? I landed, in Buffalo, calm wind, a good touch down, NOT hard ! a very slight swing to the right as the tail came down,... I apply left rudder, more right swing, and some left brake, and next thing I know , is I hear a bang, and I get as hard a...

Re: Flap Handle Detents

Getting back onto the topic,.. I find the first notch helpful when trying to "pop it off " "on skis in deep snow " I start with 1st notch, then once I get 40 mph , I can find the flap handle easily, and aggressively pull on 20 degrees and it usually pops out of the snow, and into...

Re: climb prop question

I am certain that the ground clearance is not an issue. Wicks Inc. in Alaska, has an STC for the DM 80 series prop on the 170 Series LANDPLANE . I have this STC , it is well documented. It has instruction procedures , ICA, and an Approved Flight Manual Supplement. The STC does NOT require large tire...

Re: climb prop question

I also purchased the STC from Wick Air in Palmer Alaska. ( SA 632AL ) Which is actually for a DM 80 series prop ( 8 bolt flange ) His STC includes a nice Flight Manual Supplement, the limitations instructions, and ICAs. Also if you look up the Type Certificate for these Props, P-857. On Page 4 near ...

Re: climb prop question

We interrupted it as follows. On my copy of SA7441SW, on page 1of 2 installation procedures, item 4 , which refers to propellers, , section A talks about sensenich an McCauley Props, , then it states , " and1A175/SFC8040 seaplane not to exceed2360 rpms. " It was interpreted as the 1A175/SF...

Re: climb prop question

Hi I asked the same question, and found the answer through the McCauley website, there is a PDF which has all the STCs holders. In it I found the STC holder is The 170association !!!!!. It is included in the STC for the O-300D in the 170. The 1A175SFC 80/40 is listed. There are several STCs for the ...

Re: 1A175SFC 8040 Borer Prop

Hi David, Yes, Thanks , that is what I was looking for. But that brings into question, how much is ,.. " positive clearance between the propeller and the ground in the level takeoff attitude with the critical tire completely deflated " does that mean the 9 inches ? or just, some clearance ...

Re: 1A175SFC 8040 Borer Prop

Thanks Joe,
I would be interested in hearing about what performance you get ? ?
Are you on wheels only ? What size tires do you run ?

I would really appreciate any paperwork you could share with me ?

Thanks John

Something along the lines of X number of inches required from the prop tip with one main wheel tire deflated ? Also does anyone have a...

Re: Another generator question

I thought that a "dampened Crankshaft " was required for the 35 amp Gen ?
I am not certain if it is required for an alternator or not ?
