I sold my 170B in the winter for 54K with a stock engine. It was for sale on Barnstormers for one week before a guy bought it for the full price sight unseen and paid me to deliver it. He said that good airplanes were disappearing as fast as they showed up and he didn't want to miss out. And like so...

I might be the reason the got excited about its closure. It is evidently owned by two different groups. One end is BLM and the other is the railroad or something like that. I had heard that they were concerned about its use in the web but not enough to contact me. I did not know any of this prior to...

Joe, Thanks for straightening me out! It sounded like a rant at first and so that was how I read it at the end. Woops, my bad! Blueldr, I am very sorry about the comment I made and to make it up to you if front of everyone I would like to express how good you look in that dress! HA! But seriou...

George, You are right about MT being composite. I have talked to them as well. I wouldn't take them out of the running either but let's see what comes up. Blueldr, I don't think you have the pulse of this cult group if you think a 182 is a step up from a 170. That's like a heterosexual switching tea...

I feel I have the talents and the friends with other talents to be able to push this through for relatively low cost but it will cost more calendar days as a result. The initial cost for the first prop is low enough to make me think I could do it. The performance is unknown until installed and flown...

Constant Speed for O-300 possible

Through my connections here at work I get to meet a lot of vendors and I found one that might be able to get us set up with a prop. It would be an electrically controlled constant speed propellor. They can easily help us with the 6 bolt hubs and I am working with them on the 8 bolt series. The perfo...

Eric,

That was Warren; he has the hangar right next door to me. He told me about meeting you there.

I was able to sneak out for an outing or two last sunday but other than that we haven't had any snow to speak of. I'm hoping that changes today or tomorrow.

Talk to ya later,

170 Ski Flying

http://www.c170.com/gallery/album04 Yesterday I had the privilege of a lot of sunshine, a little snow, and a crew of excited passengers to be showing up on the same day. I thought I would forward the link to the pictures for all to enjoy. There was very little snow down low and there was plenty of f...

I don't know the picture that you are talking about but I have been to Marcus at low water. The picture of the 140 and the Luscombe at Marcus are mine, but I do not know of any pictures of me there. Maybe one of them got one. You go only to say you have: the conditions aren't very good.

We are really close to flying and we have done a good job of not promising what we don't know. Price and performance are no nos until we fly and know hard facts. The images of the airplane are only sketches until we fly as well. It gives us room to update it for interest. Each of the locals are spec...

New Backcountry Airplane

Please take time to head to the website for the new airplane from Idaho. I have been a part of this project for 3 years and we are within 10 of first flight and there are a few shots of a 170 on the website if you look close.

OK Eric, Put 'em up! Now I'm offended. I chose those to match my blue pinstripes on the rest of the airplane. Are you ready to take it outside?

The engine showed up Friday and I worked like a madman all weekend and flew for 2 hours on Sunday. All things look good so far. I am taking it to be Dynamically balanced on Friday. It Started on the 3rd blade and is running really well. It is still very tight and I can't wait to see what she does wh...
