I appreciate that George. From talking with them I think they have sufficient hate mail aim at the culprits, but are looking for hard numbers on who usesthese airports. I will check in and see if they need more response and if they do I will post the info immediately. I apologize for my haste in ass...

I'm sorry George if they aren't of interest to you, but I have frequented Mile-Hi and Vines in my 170 and I intend to run into Dewey Moore this summer. There is a 135 operator that flies hunters in and out of Simonds with a 180hp 170B. So I thought if we could help it would be nice. I think that 97%...

Idaho Strips in Jeopardy

In case you don't know there are 4 strips in the Big Creek drainage that are in risk of closure. Robert Patrick, the President of IAA is putting together a list of users of these strips. The strips in question are Mile-Hi, Vines, Dewey Moore, and Simonds. If you are a user of these strips, please re...

When you lean and get it rough you are running rough because of the two leaner cylinders. Look for leaks in the intake system to those and then you will be able to lean the whole batch of cylinders more.

When I was looking for my 170, I had a lot of money from my recent 180 sale. I was looking for the best 170 I could buy and was willing to pay. But my idea of "best" might be different than someone elses. I would want full paint. Iwas looking at airplanes that were approaching the 50K mark...

I have a lot of experience, like Dave, with a polished 195. Blue Magic and Flitz were the polishes of choice, but I don't believe it got anywhere close to what I see with Nuvite. I am also a big believer in Glass Wax between polishings. Glass Wax can be found at True Value it is easy to find on the ...

I will do a tail low wheel landing, this allows you to touch down slower and still protect the tailwheel. After touchdown roll up onto the mains and dump the flaps for increased braking without skidding. Remember the best Performance increase for the dollar is to by lots of gas and go out and learn ...

Joe, It is for a lot of reasons just like that. When your approach speed is at least 10 mph slower and the visibility over the nose is so good yopur choices apperar different. I will go into rockier or rutted places because I feel comfortable straddling the ugly parts with the gear. The visiblity ov...

My wife is all of a 110 lbs and she flies the 180 just great. She gave a lot of instruction in it on Big Tires, Skis, and Floats. I have seen a lot of guys learn to fly in a 180 and my wife is an example of why couldn't a woman. I would say the airplane isn't the problem, but finding a qualified ins...

There are a lot of thing s to be careful of and I'm sure Eric meant to mention them. I'll cover for you this time Eric, HA! If you hoist the tail it becomes very light as you approach level and could be easy to put on its beak, Yuck! If you put a jack under the tail you should put a board with paddi...

I remember Joe Johnson's Colt really well. And for those of you who go to Oshkosh, his Phantom is the one at the EAA Museum. (Red and White). I saw the Ken Royce Luscombe somewhere. He was building it up as a crude replica of a model of Luscombe that actually had a Ken Royce in it. I think it was at...

It is some pretty easy stuff to find out. AC43.13-2A Shows all that information. Tension required in main shock cable is based on Ski size. 1500-3000 Skis require 20-40 lbs of tension 3000-5000 Skis require 40-60 lbs of tension Since you are running a 3000, it would make since that you want around 4...
