Re: New ECI Steel and desired and expected numbers
I've absorbed all that. 7 hours on the plane now and the oil is getting a little dirty. im using the ECI recommended Philips 20w-50 AD oil. I've barely burned anything. Still showing just below 8 quarts. EI monitor showing..... no2 EGT running hottest at 1350 at 2500rpm,2500ft, NO leaning. No2 CHT i...

Re: New ECI Steel and desired and expected numbers
let me clarify, the ECI 400CHT and 200OilTemp targets are ECI numbers for breakin. not ultimate limits. After flying the first 1.4 hours, my oil is still 8quarts and very clean. so......... how will I know that my break in is complete. And forgive my simplification......but how do the rings know tha...

Re: New ECI Steel and desired and expected numbers
i know this is adnausium or however you spell it. I did spend the time to read posts in the past. I got the numbers 360-380, that no 2 runs hot, that there is a baffle improvement to try to warm up 5-6 and use the air for the others, but no one has talked about egt. my no 2 egt is a fair amount hott...

New ECI Steel and desired and expected numbers
Hey I need advice. 6 new ECI steel on my 0-300D. AND EI monitor. What numbers has anyone experienced on CHT and EGT and Oil Temp. I can do all those and fuel flow. ECI says no hotter than 400CHT and 200 Oil Temp on breakin. I assume my engine will run cooler after about 10-15 hours due to lessened f...

Re: 35hours and ECI Nickel problems
Nickel cylinder, i found out will be covered under warranty. She said that on my no 3, the nickel was, in fact, coming off. enough. I'm going to suck up the $900 and going back to steel. They are sending 6 new steel. I, at least, will not be worrying all the time whether its shedding into my oil. Ca...

35hours and ECI Nickel problems
Hey guys, a year ago, I put 6 new ECI Nickel cylinders on my 170 0-300D. Annual inspection the other day and #3 compression at 40 and the Nickel bore is coming apart. 5 and 6 show discoloration that my A/P thinks might be a sign. Havent pulled 1/2/4 yet. ECI will replace them under warranty. They we...

Re: Electronic Engine Monitoring
Hey guys, just received my new ECI cylinders and am shocked to find out that ECI expects us to use the old Continental Valve covers on their product. I called them after looking for them in the box and they said they don't have the PMA for the 0-300 cylinders for an ECI cover. I guess they do in oth...

Re: Electronic Engine Monitoring
Since all these EI inputs are secondary, and since they are offering a free extra temp probe, what would you pick? Oil temp or oil pressure? what would be the best/easiest one to install???? OAT?

Re: Electronic Engine Monitoring
The bad cylinders were wore and had been bored to the max and places like P5. And instead of mixing old and new.....I chose new. It'll be ok when the M/C bill is paid. ouch.

Re: Electronic Engine Monitoring
Keith, Turns out I'm putting on 6 new ECI cylinders now. Well, they're ordered. Pulled 2 for low compression and they were so bored out and crappy that I decided to not wonder about the others. Tell me this thing will run like a champ. Please. 5400 for the 6. When i say low compression, i mean 58/80...
