Whatever you do, make sure it is on a bulkhead.

Re: Primer Modification on the O-300

Just out of curiosity, what does it take to make that modification legal? Just a logbook entry? STC? :?:

Re: Ragwing vent tubes.

Greg, ... used ones are available all over the internet and auction sites, etc., for very reasonable prices. I may even have a pair you can have if you can wait a couple weeks until I get home, and if you'll remind me. Those WERE used from White Industries in Bates City, MO. I ended up getting a pa...

Re: Ragwing vent tubes.

Holy Cats!!! I just got a price from White Industries for just the tube from the elbow to the cabin. The inner tube not included because I already have those. $175.00! Each! $350 total! Availability wise, they are a dime a dozen, but those dimes sure are expensive. I might just have to bite the bull...

Re: Ragwing vent tubes.

Thanks, Bruce. That makes sense. I have the two inner tubes. The ones that slide in and out. I need a pair of the other tubes. The ones that fit into the elbows. Anyone have a pair or at least an idea how to make them?

Ragwing vent tubes.

Need some info on the wingroot vents on a ragwing 170. Apparently they are different than the later model single Cessna's. I have the elbow that makes the turn from the opening in the wing but nothing else. What do I need to get from there to the cabin? I can't find drawings or pictures or anything....

Re: Mode C reporting in movement areas at all airports

They sure don't need to be in alt on the ground. Normal should be good enough and I can't wait to see the scope it will be full of all the tags. :? Not to sound snarky, but that isn't your problem. We have had that policy at Chicago O'Hare, arguably one of the worlds busiest airports, for awhile no...

Re: Electronic Performance Calculator

Are you flying a corporate jet of some knd? I can't imagine anyone needing, or wanting, an electronic performance calculator for an airplane as simple as a C-170. I would hazard a guess that after you had been flying one for a while, you would find that the need for such a device was gone. Agree co...

Electronic Performance Calculator

Anybody have an electronic calculator that does performance calculations? Plug in the variables and get takeoff and landing distances, rates of climb, that sort of thing? I am not a programmer but I would think something like that wouldn't be too hard to put together. For what its worth, I have an e...

Do you have a link for that? A photo album of just the 170 pictures?

Re: Prebuy Inspection issues

If a plane doesn't measure up or if you just don't like it, move on as there are plenty of other nice ones to choose from. The same goes for A&Ps/IAs too. THAT depends on the market. I have been looking for a very specific airplane since I sold the 195 in August. In that time, there have only b...

Prebuy Inspection issues

I am looking for guidance on what kinds of issues to look for and what kinds of traps there might be during a pre-buy inspection. Other than having a mechanic look at it, is there anything a layman can look for that would sort of be like a pre-pre-buy? Also, is there a list of AD's published on the ...

Re: I Need Some Tow Bar Ideas

Make a tailwheel tow bar out of 1.5" square tubing. (pipe won't work, it flexes too much). Oh, I don't know. I used 1" black pipe for a tow bar for my 195 and never had any problems with it. Granted, square WOULD be stiffer. But if I had to do it again, I would be comfortable with the 1&q...

Re: MoGas Thoughts

Shell hops on the unleaded avgas bandwagon...time will tell if they actually come out with a product and what it will cost. http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/Shell-Announces-Unleaded-100-Octane-Fuel221070-1.html In the meantime, I thought this list of airports with mogas was interesting. Doesn't...
