Re: Bolt on Turbo Charger O-300
I'll do some weighing in here (please correct me if I'm wrong). So I own N3JX, AKA the Turbo 170b. The engine that I have is a Turbo Normalized TSIO-360A. Which really gives you 32inHg up to 18k feet. But you can't use it for more than 5 minutes. You've got to fly it at 29inHg and 2400 after that. W...

Re: What’s the story of how you got your 170?
170B+ A.K.A. "Mistress" My father and I have bought and sold aircraft over the years. We had just sold a Aeronca L-16A to a gentleman that was in Missouri. We took some of the money and purchased two Interstate Cadet projects that we began to restore. Along the way we had seen N3JX pop up ...

Re: Moving C170B out of type certified...
There is a Frankenstein 1952 B model that had the nose from the doorposts forward from a Hawk XP grafted onto it and a turbocharged Continental IO-360 installed. It's a heck of a neat airplane, and appears to be a real performer, but it's a pain to take anywhere, from my understanding. It's also be...

Door latch and door stop
Does any body have a source for the 2 gear style door latch?
Looks like mine wore out a while ago, the wind caught the door and busted off the skycatch door stop.
I got the diagrams for it from here, but I can't find the latch.

Wing attach bolts
Does it matter which direction they are installed? I'm having a discussion with my mechanic and he says they are installed incorrectly (that is with the bolt facing the rear of the aircraft). He feels that the bolt should face the front of the aircraft. I'm in a quandry because my 140 has the rear t...

Re: Fastest 170 in the fleet!
Azpilot, How do you intend to utilize this C-170 that has an experimetal registration? I'd be interested in what you intend doing with it. Do you intend to continue development and apply for an STC for the power plant change? It seems to me that the normal operating restrictions applicable to a cet...

Re: Bendix Magneto A.D.
I checked on the status, and it looks like it been superceded. Along with that, looks like its only for Lycoming engines. Re: Fastest 170 in the fleet!
I didn't build this aircraft, I bought it. The guy that built it was Johnny Williams in Texas. I'll go through the boxes of documents and engineering documents to get you the exact, but I think I remember seeing that they were 175 wings...which I think are R172 wings. It has electric flaps because r...

Re: Fastest 170 in the fleet!
Azpilot- WOW I love that airplane. Is it still in experimental category? Any chance of it ever becoming a standard category airplane? Is that a manual waste gate control next to the cowl flap lever? How big are your fuel tanks? Do you have enough rudder on takeoff? COOL! Its in the experimental cat...

Its a 170B with a 172XP interior.

Re: Good Mechanic in South East Pennsylvania
Both of the aircraft are near to Doylestown. I've called Joe Flury at Quakertown. He told me that he could do the 140 but he won't touch the 170. I haven't called George Taylor at Van Sant yet. He finished my L-16 that Billy Smela and Fern Started I don't think I'm going to try Leading Edge just yet...
