Nice plane, I could land in my hay field with that! I'd have to leave the kids home though. :(

My 170 had a vertical card compass mounted on the glare shield when I bought it. It acted kind of screwy (technical term) and I replaced it with a whiskey ball from a salvage yard (Wentworth) for 60 bucks. I think I’ll have the vertical card looked at sometime thought because it might be repairabl...

If you base a tail wheel airplane at a seaplane base is it possible to make full stop landings? Sorry about that Bob, congrats. Yes pictures!

I like the nylon washers also but I have wondered if there are places they should not be used. I have seen these washers split, especially after repeated use, which would automatically loosen the screw. Some screws are considered structural and some aren't but I'm no expert.

George, thanks for asking. I just had to go fly last evening to check my vacuum gauge :D . Vacuum seemed to stay between 5" and 5.25". But I was mistaken, the gyro rotates counter-clockwise. If I was in the southern hemisphere would it go the other way :P .

I don’t intend to hijack your thread Jud, but I have a similar question that I think one of these sages might be able to help with. I have a late model artificial horizon that seems to function properly but my DG rotates slowly clockwise. The vacuum gage is in the middle of the green. Is this DG i...

George, I was tempted to select unknown on the poll but thought you might know the model of my seats. They are square across the top of the seat back. The only adjustment, other that sliding fore and aft, is the position of the seat back which have 5 or 6 detents for tilt adjustment. I suppose it is...

OK, let me try. A Kentucky cattle farmer is talking with a Texas rancher. He says "I've got a hundred acres of hill side so steep the cows left legs are a foot shorter then their rights so they can stand upright. The Texan says "Well let me tell you about my spread. I can get in my truck a...

A couple of years ago I was landing down hill at my home airport with a moderate left crosswind. I went between the runway lights on the left side of the runway with the left wing still down. The grass was about 18" high and I pulled a handfull out of the left outer aileron hinge gap 8O . It tu...

I feel like Western Skyways did a good job for me. I know it's not in the NE (sorry) but if you are going to have to ship your engine it's not that much more money. What sold me was that they traded my O300A core for an O300D first run core at no additional charge.

I had the sticker type also but over the years the back ground color had polished away so it was no longer legible. I ordered a new one from Aero Graphics and installed it. It is shiny silver mylar with black lettering. This one is probbably not Rolite proof either :D .
