Re: Gross weight (Floats)
I believe the 2106 lbs gross weight on floats is an Edo 2000 limitation due the the buoyancy (lack thereof) of the floats. Is it not 2200 lbs with larger floats?

Re: Negotiating a sale - setting a value
doc, if you want a climb prop I can trade you for a cruise prop. I just bought a seaplane 80/42 prop so I have two fine pitch ones and no cruise prop.

Re: wood spar in 170?
Here I thought I was the only 170 nut powering up a guillows kit. I'm going 2s on mine with 5g servos and 6amp esc. Battery will go on the floor behind the landing gear. Not covered yet but should look just like its much bigger brother when done. Will it fly? Have to wait til the maiden. Maybe I'll ...

Re: Control surface hardover
I knew a flight instructor who died practicing spins with a student. They were in a Cessna 152 and the rudder jammed fully deflected. The rudder stop was not properly aligned and latched on to the rudder. No amount of force on the opposite rudder would release it and they couldn't power out of it ei...

Re: 170 HP O-300
Thanks for the replies guys, I kind of figured it had something to do with racing. The guy asking me if I thought about polishing the ports is an ex race car driver. He sounded adamant doing this would increase power a bit and result in cooler temps as the engine doesn't have to work as hard to draw...

Re: 170 HP O-300
Forgive me if this is a dumb question but I'm not up to speed on all the STC's for this engine. Would it be legal to polish the intake ports to obtain a few more HP? Anyone done this or is it more of a nudge nudge wink wink subject? The reason I ask is I have an almost new (30 hrs) C-145 sitting in ...

Re: Fuel primer leak..
What I thought was going to be a fairly straight forward job turned into a bit of a nightmare. The copper line kept cracking as we were flaring it. In the end we drilled a countersink into the line and heated it up before flaring it very very slowly. That did the job.

Awesome guys. Thanks for the quick reply as always. I will call my mechanic and see if he has the flare tool.

Fuel primer leak..
I noticed some fuel dripping under the instrument panel while I was priming the engine. Upon further examination, I determined it was coming from where the fuel exits the primer where the nipple clamps the copper hose. I have tightened it as much as I dare to but there is still a small amount of see...

Re: VG installation with STOL kit
They don't pick up ice (I've only had it happen one time in a really serious icing encounter and that was runback) Not pertinent for the 170, but they do pick up ice. Trust me, Moderate mixed will make a nice cone in front of each VG which will look like a spoiler on top of your wing in no time. Sc...

Re: Radio replacement suggestions
Looks like there's a little life left in that old radio. Disconnected everything and plugged it all back in. Works fine now. Probably had something to do with my portable intercom and all the associated connections. I think i'm still going to replace it though. I can hear the MGL V10 calling me with...

Re: Stall warning failure
Thanks for the replies guys, I will look into the grounding issue and report back. The switch moves freely and the wing was not removed while painting.

Stall warning failure
I had my plane painted and the stall warning hasn't worked since. Neither the aural warning or the light work anymore. Both worked fine before so a simultaneous dual failure seems unlikely. could it be the wiring? Any ideas out there? Thanks..

Radio replacement suggestions
Well, my radio died. I no longer can receive any communications and can't hear the squelch either. Don't know if it transmits but I suspect it does as there is a light that comes on when I press the PTT. Anyone know a quick fix? Replacing the radio with something more up to date was on my to do list...
