Re: Lady Legs on an A model
This is where you can find a field approval 337 that I did to approve lady legs already installed on my ‘52 170B when I bought it. Maybe this can be of some help to you? http://www.cessna170.org/forums/membersOnly/pdfDownload.php?download_file=McC%20337%20Update%20prev%20late%20model%20landing%20gea...

They used to call me all the time and offer me a free trial subscription which I tried a couple times, never signed up. Contact sales they could probably offer you the same trial offer with no commitment on your part.

Re: Avcon engine mount to firewall hardware
I need a drawing for the bushings, bolts and washers, for the engine mount to firewall, for my Avcon STC SA 806 CE conversion for the 0-360-A1A . We need the actual drawing so we know what the bolt lengths should be for the firewall attach point, which I suspect are shown in drawing 17013 - I see t...

Re: Headliner - Spruce or Airtex
Mine is a 49' A model and yes they have a little old lady there who actually sews them up. They will also ask how you want the zipper to run. Across the airframe or fwd to aft. Mine runs fwd to aft. Here are some photos. One is during the install before I shrank it. The next is how it looks today. ...

Re: Elevator Balance
Hi Steve and Jim, I want to thank you both for setting me straight. The light bulb  has just illuminated on where I was making my mistake. I guess I was interpreting the weight that was listed for each control surface as the weight to be used on the balance beam. Now, I know that weight is the...

Re: Elevator Balance
Where is your weight located when the surface is parallel? And I could be all wrong but 24 "inches /per pound. The factory balance weight being 4 pounds. If you're using a 4 pound balance weight on your balance beam and you're arriving at 8.5" to parallel, then you are underweight I,m not...

Re: Parking Brake
Are there any STC's out there to replace the parking brake system with another? Perhaps the hydraulic lock method? If I remember right, one of our members has a field-approved installation of a dual hydraulic valve for parking, but I can't remember who it is. That ought to be pretty straight-forwar...

Re: Elevator Balance
I was hoping someone might know the actual weight or size of the lead weight they installed in our rudders at the factory. Because, unless I'm making a mistake in my balancing procedure, (my wife will remind me from time to time, to take the blinders off) I'm confused about my rudder being way out o...

Re: Elevator Balance
George, Thank you for helping me understand the proper way to check the balance on my elevators.
Do you or anyone know the actual weight and size of the lead weight they installed in our rudders at the factory?

Elevator/Rudder Balance
I'm trying to figure out how to check my balance on each elevator (left hand & right hand). I have painted my airplane with the wings, V & H stabilizers, and control surfaces off. I have checked my ailerons and found them to be right in the middle of 0.0 to 11.31 in lbs. I need to do my rudd...

Just pulled out (first copy I could find) "The 170 News" 1st Quarter 2009 and on page 19 is an ad for Airforms, Inc. Steel Axles FAA-PMA Approved on 170,180, 185.

Re:
The original gauges were made by Scott. Rochester bought the product line. They are located in Dallas. I've talked to them extensively about this over the years. Their gauges (the ones re-sold by Spruce) are what are in my airplane, after having been modified by the installer. They work perfectly a...
